Yeah, people say I’m hard to get a hold of and stuff. Usually I end up getting contacted through Eskimo Bob. All the email addresses in readme’s to old projects are pretty much defunct. For some reason I totally forgot to stick a contact form on this site too. Well, I fixed that, so if you need to get a hold of me, now there’s a way to do it, and I can hopefully still avoid ridiculous amounts of spam.
Oh yeah, it’s also my 28th birthday. Uh-oh…

School starts tomorrow. I’m gonna be honest. This summer seems like it has gone on forever, and I can’t wait for school. I don’t think I’ve ever looked forward to school this much in my life. Maybe it’s my more mature outlook on such things, or maybe I just want to get out of my house. I’m not sure… but I’m definitely ready. It’s time for year 2. Wish me luck.

That’s right, the DS Heracles game that was released last year in Japan is going to be released in English. They are even using the title “Glory of Heracles”. Pretty awesome news if you ask me. I definitely feel somewhat responsible for introducing this series to English gamers, and seeing that it’s finally making its way over here, under the English title that I gave to it no less, is pretty darn cool if you ask me. For the record, any time they have referred to this series in the past in English publications they always called it “Glory of Hercules”, and the English title mentioned in the Gameboy game was “Hercules’ Glories”. I think that shows some proof that my name is the one that stuck. Oh yeah!

Punch-Out!!

Yeah, I got Punch-Out for the Wii on Tuesday. It’s definitely some good stuff. I beat contender mode that night, and I’m going through Title Defense now. Wow, it’s pretty crazy. I just beat Piston Hondo a few minutes ago. He actually wasn’t too bad. Aran Ryan has been my biggest surprise. I never really knew he existed before as I wasn’t a big Super Punch-Out fan, but he’s a pretty hilarious character, and one of the most messed up Punch-Out fights that I’ve ever played. I’m almost terrified at the thought of facing his TD version because he’s so ridiculous, but it’ll likely be pretty cool at the same time. So yeah, I guess I’ll be trying Bear Hugger now. Wish me luck!

I never really liked the spiky thing in the background, so I replaced it with a crappy gradient. Oh joy! I also updated the top banner to reflect the 12 years that this site has been online… well, it’ll be 12 years on May 29 anyway… I figured it’s close enough, at least the month is right… So yeah, happy day!

Game & Watch Collection Arrives!

I checked the mail today and it was waiting for me in a bubble envelope. Ever since I heard of the Japanese Club Nintendo release I’ve wanted it, and now it’s mine. Wahahahhahahaha!!!!!

So I’ve played through each game once so far, and I like it. I’ve played Oil Panic before on Game & Watch Gallery for GameBoy, but I only ever had the first one. I know Donkey Kong was in other one of them but I have no idea about Greenhouse. To be honest, Greenhouse might be my favorite… maybe it’s just because I got the highest score in it though. Anyway, yeah, it’s the first time Nintendo has given me an actual free game since the Zelda Collector’s Edition for Gamecube so I can’t be anything but happy right now. Hehehe…

Well, it’s about time.

I will soon own Game & Watch Collection for the DS. My post play surveys from December have finally arrived, and I got myself up to 800 points. This is probably the only year that I’ll ever pull it off either, just because I was able to cash in on so many older games that I already had. I know some people might not think it’s all that great, but I’ve always loved the Game & Watch games, and LCD handhelds in general. I’ve also been in a real mood for short little “pick up and play” games lately, ever since getting Retro Game Challenge, so this is gonna be perfect for me. It should be in the mail any day now, so I’ll be posting impressions when I get it. Oh yeah.

On a totally unrelated note, Eskimo Bob 53 came out yesterday, so go and watch it or else!

… and this isn’t exactly a fable, but it’s pretty close. I’m wondering how far I should expand past fables. I like these little spin-offs. Maybe next time I’ll do Differential Calculus for Children or something.

The L Button of Doom

If you have a DS Lite, you probably know what I’m going to talk about. The title probably gave it all away. I’m going to rant about the DS Lite’s flaky L button. I’ve had 2 DS Lites, and both eventually were victims of the L button curse.

What is this curse you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. The DS Lite’s L button tends to stop working if you carry it around in your pocket. You can temporarily remedy the problem by blowing into the gap underneath it, but doing this every time you play your DS is kind of annoying.

Luckily, I have found a solution. I’m going on a month now without having to blow air into my DS. What have I done you may ask? I stuck it in a play-thru zipper case. It still fits in my pocket, and after a few days, I no longer had to blow into the system at all. I’m assuming that whatever dust was getting trapped under the L button now has no way in, and my system is like new again. Yeah. It’s weird. For all you people with a flaky L button, just buy a case and within a week or so you’ll probably never have to risk filling your DS with spit and condensation ever again. Just make sure you’re not using a crappy skin or crystal case, you need to use a zipper case so the dust has no way in. That’s it for today. Oh yeah.
