I haven’t updated or made any new Fables in the last few weeks… Life’s been kind of busy for me I guess so I haven’t had much time to do anything. I’ve been really low on energy too. You know how sometimes you get good news and sometimes you get bad news and sometimes they happen close to each other and everything just leaves you feeling drained? Yeah, it’s kind of like that. It’s so much fun typing out this random garbage like this. Anyways, yeah. That’s about it for today.

Super Dodgeball and June Bugs

It’s that time of year again. Oh yes, the June bugs are in season. Alan used to like crunching these fat critters up with his teeth when he was a kid, but I’ve never liked them much myself.

So last night I ordered a pizza, and when the delivery guy was at the door a June bug flew in the house. Rather than deal with it at the time, I just shut it in the porch so it would eventually slam itself against the window and die. The cat had already taken notice of it so I figured he would probably eat it anyway.

So anyway, this morning my kid wanted to go play at her friend’s place and I was like ok, so she went there for a little while and came home to get a sweater. I was in the bathroom. Then all of a sudden I hear this blood curdling scream. “THERE’S A JUNE BUG IN THE HOUSE!” So I was like “Where is it?” and she goes “IT’S LAYING ON ITS BACK IN FRONT OF THE DOOR!” and I was like “Well it’s dead then, don’t worry about it.” and she goes “IT COULD KILL ME THOUGH!” and I was like no the worst it can do is be ugly don’t worry about it and she’s like “I WANT YOU TO COME OUT AND KILL IT!” and I’m like “It’s already dead though.” and she’s like “I’M RISKING MY LIFE HERE!”

So yeah. As soon as I got out of the bedroom I opened the door and swept the dead critter out into the driveway and she’s curled up in a ball on the couch hiding under a pillow. What she didn’t know was that two of her friends were waiting right outside the door and they as soon as they saw her they said “Um… why are you crying?” Ah yes, girls are pretty funny sometimes.

In further news, I bought Super Dodgeball Brawlers for the DS last night. It’s pretty fun. I like it a lot. I’ve always liked Kunio games and it’s great to have a new one. I like how they actually translated it as a Kunio game too… I thought that was pretty cool. I haven’t had a chance to play it all that much yet but I’m sure I’ll have some more time on the toilet without June bug interruptions before too long. I can’t help it, portable gaming was totally designed to be a bathroom sport. It’s not my fault.

Anyway, yeah… I can’t believe I even bothered to divide this into paragraphs.

Uploaded some really old TI-83 games

I just uploaded some really old games that I made for the TI-83 graphing calculator back in high school. I was actually planning on uploading them way back then, but I never got around to it. Fast forward almost 10 years into the future… and today I was digging through some old boxes and found my TI Graph Link cable… So I figured I might as well upload them now.

I got a few 25th Anniversary GI Joe figures on the weekend. It’s pretty rare to see them in stores around here so when I see them I usually pick one up, but this time there were actually quite a few good ones there. I got 1986 Roadblock, Cobra Commander with MASS crystals, and a Viper. I think I’m most excited to get Roadblock because I never had a Roadblock figure as a kid. I’ve had lots of Vipers and a few of Cobra Commander (although this is definitely my favorite), but never Roadblock. It’s weird too, because he was always one of my favorite Joes. I never really read the comics, but I had a few Sunbow episodes on tape and Red Rockets Glare was awesome. That episode pretty much summed up Roadblock’s character to me as a kid. The cool gourmet chef with an uncle who owned a fast food place. Oh yeah. Right now I have him posed holding Cobra Commander in a movie homage though. WASSS ONCCCCE A MAAAAAAN… once a maaan…

Well, today marks the 11th year since I first uploaded The Spoony Bard onto it’s own little spot on Geocities. With it’s then cutting edge frames and background images consisting of darkened screenshots from 8 bit Final Fantasy games… who knew what the future had in store? Well, I can tell you! Actually… I probably can’t. Oh well. All I know is that even if it sucks, this page has probably been around for a lot longer than yours has.
